Abstract: Goal of the ATRAP-experiment is to capture the simplest atom of antimatter, the Anti-Hydrogen-Atom H$^{0}$, in a trap in order to perform high precision spectroscopy. The topics of this work are studier on the photon-detector used in the firnt phase of ATRAP, which consists of the scintillator Bismuth-Germanate (Bi$_{4}$Ge$_{3}$O$_{12}$, BGO) and Monte-Carlo-simulations to optimize the design of the BGO-detector for phase II of ATRAP. The BGO-component is supposed to detect positron annihilation photons, which indicate the amount of produced Anti-Hydrogen-Atoms. Basic properties of this detector moduls have been studied (like energy resolution, efficiencies and the temperature dependence of the light emission). Furthermore the improved BGO-detector-system for phase I of ATRAP has been tested and calibrated.
