Investigation of density in Buoyancy Flows using CFD code JuFire

2016

xv, 63 p. () = BUW Wuppertal, Masterarbeit, 2016

Abstract: This thesis was conducted with two goals in mind, first the mathematical aspects and second is understanding of physics of heat transfer in a square cavity with different boundary conditions and then an example of a conjugate heat transfer was used. Projection methods were used to develop numerical model by using the software JuFire based on finiteelement library deal.II. This numerical model was then applied to benchmark problems. Problems were based on pure natural convection, caused by the temperature difference between hot and cold walls. The arrangement of the sources and the sink is different in every problem. The simulations are performed for different Rayleigh numbers Ra = 103:::106. by using the results of the simulation, velocity, temperature, isotherms, buoyancy force and local Nusselt number are plotted. The Local Nusselt number at the source or the sink, characterizes type of heat transfer, which is induced by conduction or by convection.
