Abstract: Dear colleagues, we are very happy to welcome you to Aachen - to ths historical site which was a place of Celtic flintstone quarrying and trading in the New Stone Age, a military spa town of the Romans in the first century and an important political town and the home of famous and influential kings such as Pippin and Charlemagne. In addition to the political and cultural significance of Aachen, the region has developed in to a high tech site due to the Research Centre in Jülich and the RWTH Aachen University. Very fruitful collaborations have emerged between both these institutions leading to the Jülich Aachen Research Alliance with several branches. One of them deals with Future Information Technology (JARA-FIT). Consequently, the Aachen Jülich region has been the birthplace of many high tech startup companies. One of them, AIXTRON, was founded as a spinoff company of the RWTH. We are therefore pleased to be able to organize the EWMOVPE XV in Aachen and at the Technology Centre. Without the deposition technique MOVPE, many technical advances in semiconductor technology would not have been possible and would have reached mass production such as optical data transfer, solid state lighting and others.
