Abstract: At the Jülich Supercomputing Centre at the Research Centre Jülich are not only the operations of the supercomputers but also mathematical modeling and scientific simulation a large working area. A special project is to model movements of pedestrians. Inter alia movements and routes of people are recorded by single or stereo cameras in order to get images and data that permit developing and verifying an appropriate model. The disadvantage of conventional and commercial stereo cameras is the fixed alignment of the two lenses to each other so they can’t individually be adjusted to each other. But in many cases a higher variablity and individual adjustment of the lenses are requested, so constructing a stereo cameras by two independant cameras is more advantageously. This stereo system will be flexible in adjustment, for example concerning the distance between the two lenses...
