Abstract: Microplastics (MPs) are increasingly recognized as emerging contaminants in agricultural soils, where they alter soil structure, hydraulic properties, microbial communities, and plant performance. This work investigates the influence of soil texture and MP type on soil hydraulic properties, early winter wheat growth, and MP mineralization dynamics. In Chapter 2, the effects of four MP types (LDPE, PP, PS, and PES microfibers) on the hydraulic properties of three soils with contrasting textures (Luvisol, Albic Luvisol, and Chernozem) were evaluated at a concentration of 0.4% w/w. Results demonstrated that MP impacts on water retention and hydraulic conductivity varied with soil type, moisture conditions, and MP properties. With PES microfibers generally enhancing water retention in finer soils but reducing it in sandy soils, while PS and PP particles tended to reduce soil porosity and block pores, hindering water flow. In contrast, LDPE did not show significant influence on soil water hydraulics....
