Abstract: The report describes the Ostwald ripening process in a nanocomposite comprising gold nanoparticles and TiO2 semiconductor under electrochemical conditions. The phenomenon is considered in relation to previous observations on the Ostwald ripening process in metallic nanostructures. Possible processes involved are discussed, and a mechanism is proposed based on the size dependence of the electrochemical parameters of gold nanostructures.
