Abstract: The study presented here analyses the industrial demand for electricity in the Federal Republic of Germany and estimates its development up to the year 2000. The basis of the methodological procedure is to estimate both the industrial output and the specific electricity consumption for all important branches of industry. The essential result of this study shows that the expected industrial demand for electricity up to the end of this century will only amount to 165 TWh. Compared with the year 1985 (157 TWh) this means an increase of only 5 %.
