Abstract: This volume summarizes the Social Compatibility Study, conducted by the Program Group Technology and Society of the Nuclear Research Centre in Jülich, and is identical with the final report submitted to the Federal Government in J anuary 1985. It consists of three main parts. In the first part, the characteristics of the present energy situation and aspects of the future are described. In the second part, the elements of the theoretical and methodological concept of the study are outlined. The third part describes the empirical results. Thebook ends with recommmendations for politicians and other groups engaged in the energy debate.
