Abstract: Several years ago ecidence from measurement of transport properties in dilute alloys indicated the existence of considerable anisotropy in the conduction electron scattering rate over the Fermi surface, and that the anisotropy was different for different types of defects /3.3/. In more recent years measurement of the dHvA effect has emerged as a useful technique for investigating scattering from lattice defects in metals.
