Abstract: We report on the concept of an innovative laser-drivenplasma accelerator for polarized proton (or deuteron) beamswith a kinetic energy up to several GeV. In order to mod-ell the motion of the particle spins in the plasmas, thesehave been implemented as an additional degree of freedominto the Particle-in-Cell simulation code VLPL. Our firstsimulations for nuclear polarized Hydrogen targets showthat, for typical cases, the spin directions remain invariantduring the acceleration process. For the experimental real-ization, a polarized HCl gas-jet target is under constructionwhere the degree of proton polarization is determined witha Lamb-shift polarimeter. The final experiments, aimingat the first observation of a polarized particle beam fromlaser-generated plasmas, will be carried out at the 10 PWlaser system SULF at SIOM/Shanghai.
