Abstract: Liquid–liquid phase separation, yielding membraneless organelles, allows for the sequestration and functional insulation of cellular proteins. A modularly built, synthetic membraneless organelle platform enables efficient control over endogenous cellular activities by knockdown of protein function or controlled protein release.
