Abstract: A neutron spectrometer has been developed having a multi-crystal monochromator and a multicrystal analyser. The energy of scattered neutrons can also be analysed by the time-of-flight method. Examples are given for two of the various operation modes of this spectrometer, which demonstrate the good intensity to resolution ratio. The first is a measurement of the temperature dependence of the molecular reorientation rate in a plastic crystal, adamantane. The second is a study of the motion of hydrogen which is chemisorbed on a nickel catalyst.
